Psychiatrist
Alex is an adult psychiatrist with a particular interest in how a person’s early-life circumstances may have created patterns of current-life thoughts, feelings and behaviours which contribute to mental ill health. She is particularly interested in those with early-life trauma, personality disorders, insecure attachment styles, and significant or chronic interpersonal conflicts which give rise to symptoms of anxiety, depression, loneliness, and emptiness, as well as maladaptive attempts to manage negative emotions through, for instance, substance use.
Alex is passionate about providing psycho-education to patients regarding the mind, mental illness, and routes to recovery. She has an interest in relationship counselling, is experienced in using psychodynamic psychotherapy and its principles in the treatment of a range of disorders, and is well versed in managing severe and enduring mental illness such as psychotic disorders with psychotropic medication.
